forgiveness and prayer

I'm praying for you, confident of God's faithfulness and great love for you.

Prayer is our most precious privilege! Continue  learning from Jesus' life and His Word about prayer and inviting the Holy Spirit to teach you daily how to pray well. So much depends on the effective praying of God's people.

Our Redeemer has made a way for our continual access to the Throne of Grace but we must understand how to approach God in prayer!   He is a Holy God.The Psalmist points out  in Psalm 24:3 "who can ascend to the hill of the Lord who can come into His presence?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart." Remember Isaiah 59:1,2  which speaks of God's mighty hand to save and His ear to hear, but warns "your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."

Psalm 66:18 says that "If I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear." So it's so crucial that we invite the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of sin in our hearts, be quick to acknowledge and repent of sin and receive the forgiveness our Savior freely gives! Oh repentance is  a wonderful thing! The end of Psalm 66 declares that God will indeed hear the voice of our prayers! I love Psalm 130:4 "If You would regard iniquity who could stand, but there is forgiveness with You." This is the most wonderful truth! Forgiveness!

So when we approach the throne of grace in prayer, the first thing is to humble ourselves, ask the Lord to reveal areas of unconfessed sin, then repent and receive His forgiveness.  Remember when Jesus was instructing the disciples in how to pray in Matthew 6, He said that their prayer to the Father must include, "Forgive us our sin, as we forgive those who sin against us." Never let your failures, your mistakes keep you from prayer! Never allow condemnation or guilt to hijack your prayer life.  Remember 1 John 1:2 "If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."  He is our Advocate who is daily interceding for us! Every one of us can continually exercise 1 John 1:9 "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Be quick to repent!  Receive forgiveness and cleansing!  Repentance, confession and forgiveness must always precede prayer. Oh to be able to be forgiven of our failures is the greatest miracle! The precious blood of Jesus is  powerful and cleansing. Let Psalm 139 be your daily heart's cry."Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxious heart; and see if there is any wicked way in me.  And lead me in the way everlasting." Learn to approach God correctly in prayer, by the precious cleansing blood of our Savior!
