In the beginning was the WORD

Hello God's beloved. I'm praying for you right now by name. Prayer is powerful!  I'm so thankful our Lord set prayer in place, that we can call upon Him and He hears us and He answers! Remember today that you are so loved, and because of His love in you, you can love others well today! Let's give all today for His glory, holding nothing back.

I hope you will join me in reading through the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs in the next 40 days.  Today is Day 3, just jump on in if you haven't already.  As believers, God's Word must be our priority!

Jesus is the Word. Remember in John 1 it  says, "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was  with God and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men......v. 14....And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.."

Wow! Spending time in the Word is spending time with Him. Jesus is the Word. His Word is life, it is alive!  It is light, it dispels darkness! It is our Sword, our offensive and defensive weapon!  It is the greatest Treasure, the Bread of Life, the power  and wisdom  of God. Our Creator speaks to us through His written Word. Remember Romans 12:2 "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you might prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 4:4, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God."  What He was saying is that we can never make it just relying on natural things, but His Word would sustain us and build us up and bring life to us. My favorite verse in the Bible is John 14:23.  Jesus is speaking. "If anyone loves Me, he will keep (remain in, abide in, obey) My Word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him." This is such a precious, amazing incredible verse for all! God himself wants to dwell in us, live in us, take up residence in us as we love Him and desire to stay in His Word with a heart of obedience.

And clearly, much time in God's Word helps our prayers to be effective.  Remember in John 15:17 when Jesus is talking about abiding in Him. And He says, "If you abide in Me, and My Word abides in you; ask whatever you wish and it shall be done for you."   Of course all of us can talk to God in prayer, but when we spend much time in the Word, we can have wisdom to pray according to His will.

Finally, Psalm 1:1-3 should be  imprinted in our hearts and minds.  I encourage you to read it again! Oh that our delight would be in God's Word, and in that Word we would meditate day and night. day and night. day and night.  For we will be "like a tree firmly planted by streams of water.  Which yields its fruit in its season. And its leaf does not wither; and in whatever we do, we will prosper."  Love God's Word. Be passionate about His Word.  Be desperate in your pursuit of His Word. And, when you open up the precious Word of God today, you can pray the prayer David prayed in Psalm 25:4 "make me know Thy ways, O Lord.  Teach me Thy paths.  Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, For Thou art the God of my salvation; For Thee I wait all the day." The Holy Spirit is the best Teacher.  He will reveal, illuminate, and bring understanding. Acknowledge Him, honor Him and rely on Him as you spend time in His  Word. Have a beautiful day. amy
