Through the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs in 40 days
Day 6/40

Proverbs 6  Psalms 13-15

Matthew 28-Mark 6

It is a wonderful Tuesday and I am so excited to be praying for you right now before the sun comes up because prayer is powerful! Our Lord is faithful. Psalm 9 says that He is our Stronghold today! Our Stronghold in times of trouble.  I hope you will join me in reading through the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs in these next 40 days. Oh that  His Word would be our continual delight. In Mark 4:24, the Amplified version,  Jesus gives His disciples some great Words."'Pay attention to what you hear, for the measure of thought and study you give to the Word you hear, will be the measure you get back and more besides will be given to you.'' very cool. The Lord really ministered to me this morning writing "lifewords".  And I know He gave these words to encourage you, strengthen you and minister to you specifically. I felt His presence while writing them, and I felt His great love for you. He knows you by Name, He wants you to know His.                              love, amy.

The Name above all Names  I

Oh the Name of our wonderful  Lord! Last night, in our family devotions, we were talking about Psalm 9:9,10. This is the Psalm I was praying for you just a few moments ago. It's powerful.

"The Lord also will be a Stronghold for the oppressed, a Stronghold in times of trouble, and those who know Your Name will put their trust in You;  for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You."

Aren't you thankful He is our stronghold this day!   The Holman translation says a "Refuge" in times of trouble. The New Living Bible says a "Shelter" in times of trouble."  The Basic English Bible says "The Lord will be a High Tower for those who are crushed down"." The same word for stronghold is used in Proverbs 18:10 "The Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower, the righteous run into it and are safe." The same word is also used in 2 Samuel 22:3. David is speaking to the Lord on the day the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. In the middle of this time of extreme trouble, David spoke the right words! "The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress, and my Deliverer, my God,  my  Rock, in whom I take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my Stronghold, my Refuge, my Savior, You save me from my enemies."  Learn to say these words out loud in the middle of your trial, your time of trouble. He will never forsake His precious ones who are seeking after Him, pursuing Him.

What really began to capture me in  Psalm 9 is this: "And those who KNOW YOUR NAME  will put their trust in You."   We must learn to put our trust in Him. Completely.   And only when we know Him will we be able to put our trust in Him.  We know Him through His Word. Our trust is not in ourselves, our abilities, our jobs, the economy, money........our trust cannot even be in any other person.  Times of pressure, times of trials, times of being in the wilderness or in the belly of a whale, times  of war, times of anxiety, times of desperation, times of being tried by fire,...all these the Lord uses to bring us to a place of  complete trust in Him. David said in 2 Samuel 22:7 that it was in his distress that he called on the Name of the Lord. It was his distress that caused Him to draw near to God in desperation.   Oh that we would put our trust in our Stronghold, our Strong Tower, our Refuge, our Hiding Place, our Fortress! Remember Psalm 20:7, "some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will trust in the Name of the Lord our God!"    You will never learn to trust in the Name of the Lord unless you are in the fire! And, you cannot put your trust in Him if you do not know who HE is, if you do not know His Name.  Remember,  Psalm 9:10 says that "those WHO KNOW YOUR NAME will put their trust in You."    We must know His Name. Psalm 8:1 says "O Lord our Lord, How majestic is Your Name in all the earth." Psalm 111:9, "Holy and Awesome is His Name." Acts 4:12, "No other Name under heaven given by which we may be saved." Phil 2:9 "The Name which is above every name that is named."

"......Those that KNOW YOUR NAME will put their trust in You."  Could we also say that those who do not know His name will find it impossible to trust in Him?  We must know His Name, so  that we have a clear perspective of Who He is and can trust in, fully rely on, and have faith in  our Lord. During the next days, "lifewords" will be focused on His Name.  The  Names of God....Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This week will be specifically on the Name of Jesus.  Agree with me in prayer now that at the end of this week we would know His Name, the matchless Name of Jesus. That the Holy Spirit would open the eyes of our understanding to see Him more clearly and reveal Who He is. Lord we want to know Your Name so we can put our trust in You!  Meditate on this.  Jesus is our Redeemer, our Savior, the Author and the Finisher of our faith, the Good Shepherd, our Healer, Our Provider, our Righteousness, our Deliverer, the Captain of our Salvation, our High Priest, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, He is the Way, the Truth, the Life, He is the Bread of Life, the Living Water, our All in All. Oh precious Jesus, we want to see You. Beloved, remember Psalm 91:14. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver Him; I will  set him securely on high, because he has KNOWN MY NAME."  Lord, we want to know You.  We want to trust You. Please reveal Your Wonderful Name to us through Your Word.
